Starting September 2010, Brentwood Elementary School will begin it's school of choice program focused on Leadership and Business. The center of the plan is a book called "The Leader in Me" by Stephen Covey. The book looks at schools and how they can effectively teach students his seven habits of highly effective people and preparing students for the challenges of the 21st century.
Part of the leadership and business program will include a Jr. Chamber and Jr. Rotary program at the school. Students will host their own events, find business speakers, get involved in community programs and attend outside events with the goal of coming back with ideas about how to implement those events at the school level.
One thing the school is interested in doing is mirroring chamber events, including the State of the City Address and Leadership Victor Valley.

The school plans to make the students an integral piece of how the school is run, with a voice and a presence in the school. Read the entire article "Brentwood is All Business", on page 8, in the Victorville Chamber's "The Insight".
Next year our school will be implementing a business and leadership curriculum focus. To enhance the culture of our new theme, we will be adapting a new dress code policy. The purpose of enforcing a dress code is to: alleviate discipline problems pertaining to clothing, ensure student safety, promote equality among all students, and to instill a sense of community.
Research also shows that schools who have adopted a uniform policy show improved academics and fewer behavioral violations.
